I thought of this poem, one of three written by Amy in Courage, Love and the Meaning of Christmas, and decided to share it with you here. Also, for the next few days, you can download the book for FREE to read on any computer or device here: bit.ly/christmasbook
What are you doing here, anyway?
What do you have to tell the world?
Speak up, boys!
Shout it out loud, girls!
Do not hold yourself back.
Because what are you doing here, anyway?
What’s that thing inside
Scraping
Clawing
Trying
To get out?
Open the cage door wide and
Set it all free
Because that thing is you.
It is your very soul.
And what are you doing here, anyway?
Why don’t you love
Everyone around you
With your whole incredible, beautiful heart?
Why do you keep all that amazing emotion
Locked up inside
For no one else to see?
Are you afraid?
I don’t care.
Are you hurt?
I don’t care.
Are you unsure?
I don’t care.
Are you vulnerable?
So what?
Open yourself up,
Let it go
Let it flow
That’s why you’re here.
That is the only reason you are here.
I love you.
I care.
I care too much
And I am afraid.
But here I am!
I love you.
I care.
I’m saying it out loud now.
I am saying this out loud.
I love you.
I care.
I am here.
